“We’ll done!”<\/p>\n
We all love to hear accolades from those around us. In fact, some of us feel that if we don’t achieve an accolade from someone then we have somehow failed in our task or mission. God must know this about us because He gives us one in Matthew 25:21:<\/p>\n
“Well done, good and faithful servant!”<\/p>\n
I love that!<\/p>\n
The problem is that so many of us leave that verse there ignoring, or just refusing to acknowledge, what the rest of the verse says:<\/p>\n
“You have been faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”<\/p>\n
We, I, often want to leave it at the “Well done” part and pretend that I have accomplished something, so I can chill out and take a break from from whatever God is trying to do in, and through, and with me. The reality is that He is far from finished with me. While I am thankful for that I know that it means He is requiring more of me.<\/p>\n
In the book “Experiencing God”, Henry Blackaby reminds us that when we accept Christ and make Him Lord of our life, He then has the right to interrupt us in any way He sees fit.<\/p>\n
Additionally, He will use these interruptions to better us to further His Kingdom. This is huge.<\/p>\n
On July 26, I will have been a believer and follower of Jesus Christ for 24 years. While this may seem impressive to some, it is actually pretty sad when I sit back and think about all the times I know that God has wanted to use me and I have either flat refused or procrastinated in the name of “praying about it”.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, I can clearly see that I am not the same person I was 24 years ago and how I praise God for that! I know that God has had to stretch and mold me in so many different ways in order to make me ready for the next assignment He wants me to pursue that honestly, Matthew 25:21 scares me little.<\/p>\n
Looking back over my walk with the Master, I can see where just about the time I think I can relax and bask in His “We’ll done”, that is when I am faced with another situation that I am pretty sure my faith will not be strong enough to handle. My focus is wrong. I don’t need to work so I can receive a pat on the back from my Savior, I need to “share in my Master’s happiness”.<\/p>\n
It’s all about Him. It always had been and may it ever be. If my focus is on Him and His happiness then I’m free to follow Him wherever He leads me and do whatever He asks. This will mean that I will be “in charge of many things”, which can be terrifying if I’m focused on me. It can also be exhilarating if I am focused on Him.<\/p>\n
The excitement that comes from boldly walking with Jesus and being wiling to be used by Him is unlike anything we can manufacture. It is true happiness.<\/p>\n
So, I will ponder the implications of what it means to be a “good and faithful servant” and I pray we will be faithful in a little so we can become in charge of many things, all to share in our Master’s happiness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
